Guided by one of our science educators, students can get hands-on with a variety of live marine species, from Atlantic rock crabs and waved whelks to common starfish and green sea urchins, all while discovering fascinating facts about their anatomy, feeding, reproduction, and much more.
Elementary Learning Objectives (Cycles 1 to 3):
- Describe physical characteristics that demonstrate how animals are adapted to their environment;
- Identify relationships between living organisms (predation, parasitism) and various forms of locomotion;
- Explore the processes involved in the metabolism of living organisms;
- Communicate using the language of science and technology.
Secondary Learning Objectives (Secondary 1 to 5):
- Describe the habitat and ecological niche of certain species;
- Discover the biodiversity of the St. Lawrence and the factors that influence it;
- Understand the concepts of bioaccumulation and biomagnification.
